Welsh Ponies & Cobs

The Welsh Pony or Cob is a very versatile & exceptionally beautiful breed. The Welsh come in four sections.
Section A Welsh Mountain Pony is the oldest and purest. Standing 12.2 hh or less, they are characterized by large wide-set eyes, small neat ears and a dished face. They are excellent children's ponies and also good driving ponies.
Section B is a larger version of the A standing 14hh or less with the emphasis on riding.
Section C Welsh Pony of Cob type stands 13.2 hh or less and is a larger Cobbier version of the Section A. They are a true dual-purpose family pony.
Section D Welsh Cob stands over 13.2 hh with no upper height limit. For centuries the Welsh Cob has been bred for courage, endurance and tractability. A strong, general-purpose animal, he none the less shows distinct Welsh characteristics.
All Welsh come in any color except paint and exhibit a distinct high-stepping action. Welsh cross well with other breads and excel as performance ponies.
